The
Lighting Engineering Centre LEC was founded in April 2000 at the Technical
University of Cluj-Napoca, following the accomplishment of the CME-03551-97
Tempus-Phare project, Lighting Engineering Centre LEC
an excellence centre for consultancy and continuing education in the lighting
field in direct link with the needs of the labour market. This project,
developed during 1998 and 2000, combined the expertise of universities
from Cluj-Napoca, Barcelona, Helsinki and Naples.
The main objective of LEC is to create a regional centre focusing on lighting
in the North-Western region of Romania, linked with the needs of the labour
market and the improvement of the educational curricula.
This action involved:
monthly seminars and workshops in the field of lighting;
bi-annual short postgraduate courses dealing with the Management
of Electric Installations;
research studies on modern, energy efficient lighting systems;
bi-annual International Conference on Illumination (the next one
will be held in May 2003);
editing Ingineria Iluminatului (Lighting Engineering) the
Romanian scientific review in lighting field, half-yearly edition;
summer courses for EU students.
