The Institute of Heating and Sanitary Technology conducts research and develops standards and applications in the field of efficient and environmentally friendly production of energy. This includes the construction and research of heating boilers using solid, liquid and gas fuels along with biofuels, waste, solar energy and other sources of renewable energy.

Work is carried out in discovering heat loss in buildings, developing and researching of central heating installations including heaters, valves and thermostatic heads, regulation and steering systems. The Institute develops and implements computer aided systems of heating energy accounting systems using a cost accounting system in residential buildings.

The Institute’s research experience and research-laboratories back-up ensures the implementation of research undertakings within the scope of its activities covering a full cycle: design, construction, and proto-type exploitation research and production implementation. The Institute has four accredited laboratories: Research of Boilers and Heating Installations Laboratory, Central Heating Installations Laboratory, Thermography Laboratory and Research and Protection of the Environment Laboratory.

The Institute is also involved in training activities supporting the following economic transformation processes in Poland: re-training the unemployed; acquiring and raising vocational qualifications connected with the heating industry, including the use of renewable resources of energy; and preparation for independent business activities.
