Evaluation of the Impact on Micro-Climate

The effects of building construction a and building operation affect the micro climate around a building (and in an urban context) in many ways.

• relation between built and not built surface
• degree of sealing of the soil
• topography and vegetation
• form and height of buildings
• buildings inside courts
• form of roofs and vegetation on roofs

  The surfaces between buildings have large influence on the micro climate through their surface temperature (which changes during the day). Green surfaces are generally cold surfaces, trees have a damping effect on the surface temperatures. Roads, Pavements, Facades and Roofs act like heat storage surfaces. During the night the warm surfaces are turned towards the street and on street level. Cold surfaces are on roof level and turned towards the sky. During the day the warm surfaces are in the upper region, the cold ones in ground region.
